July 2012

Tribute to Chesley Bonestell, who is my greatest inspiration and the artist I admire most.
Liquid methane lake in the surface of Titan. The moons in the sky are (left to right) Dione, Rhea, Enceladus and Mimas.
This Titan is his Titan. A rocky Titan with rusty orange ground and blue sky, not the murky and slushy Titan of real life.

I did this painting as a response to the negative of the IAU to name any feature on Titan after him.

Chesley Bonestell is what I instantly thought of when I saw the thumbnail for this. Dead ringer for it.

Thank you!
It's a little bigger than the original "Saturn as seen from Titan". I have it on my desk and it looks so incredibly Bonestellesque xD
I think it's a great homage to him.

Thanks! It has a strange and antique charm.

I like traditional because I don't like digital tools much, and because it produces that lovely retro look from that time when the dream of the so called "Space age" was still alive.

It's like something right out of Forbidden planet ... which, come to think of it, I'll go watch now as I was in need of something to do (tail end of the flu.)

Thank you! In fact, is based on 1940's and 1950's space art.
