July/November 2012

Inspired on a outdated idea of Triton. This is a vintage Triton with an atmosphere which has 30% of the density of the Earth's.
For my paintings I like to pretend that we only know what earthbound telescopes can tell us, so I can imagine what all those worlds might have been. Just the way it was during the first half of the last century.
My visions are inspired mostly by the paintings of Chesley Bonestell and the tales of Asimov and Clarke.

This is my most representative painting. It's my favorite, too. If someday I'll sell it, it won't be cheap.

Well, that was my first glimpse ^^ Anyway, I love your style; can I ask which technique(s) you use?

Sure you can. I use acrylics on Crescent ilustration board.
Actually, it's quite simple: I first draw everything on pencil, then I just paint it. There are many forms that I use to add the paint: Simple brush strokes, watered down paint, a toothbrush to add that grainy texture, soft transitions for the sky, drybrushing... stuff like that. The planets (Like that Neptune) are created with a modified compass that I designed and using a secret tool I call "Cruz de navajas" ("Knives' cross").
I like to keep the things simple.

But, you know? The hardest part of a painting is all the things you have to do before starting to paint. Sometimes, when I'm just starting a painting, I feel like it's the beginning of the end of the project, the last phase of the procedure.

Thank you very much :D
I'm very flattered by you comment. It's great to be compared with him haha.
This piece is my equivalent of his "Saturn as seen from Titan".
