The first perfect sunset

Description

December 2014.
Acrylic over gesso over MDF wood.
30x37 centimeters (11.8" x 14.5")

Year 25,000.
Sunset on the Moon.
Just a few years ago a huge comet was smashed into the lunar north pole. The energy of the impact melted all of the ice from the comet and the ground. Along with water the comet had a lot of other stuff like CO2, methane and nitrogen, which formed an atmosphere.
During a couple of years the surface of our satellite was hidden by a thick cloud layer but now for the first time and after many weeks of constant rain, the clouds have parted, showing for the first time a beautiful deep blue sky and a perfect sunset over a newborn sea.
This is the end of the first day of a new world.

Very beautiful picture and a very nice concept.
Too bad known Laws of Physics dictates that such an atmosphere would be impossible even briefly. A comet sufficiently large to create such an atmosphere would cause an explosion sufficiently strong to blow all volatile gases clean off the moon due to the massive heat, shock, and the moon's weak gravity. Even if you ignore the blast effects, the moon's gravity would still allow an earth-like atmosphere to disperse within a single year given the moon's proximity to the sun. At least, according to current understanding of physics to the best of *my* understanding.
